A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser, used to remember information between visits — like keeping you signed in, or remembering a preference. We use a single essential cookie, set by our authentication provider, to keep you signed in between page visits. It's strictly necessary for the site to function — without it, you'd be logged out on every page load — so, in line with the ePrivacy Regulations, it doesn't require your consent and isn't affected by the cookie banner. We don't use it, or any other cookie, for analytics or to track you across other websites.

Some ad space on the site is sold directly to local businesses rather than through AdSense — these are plain static images, clearly labelled "Sponsored", linking to the advertiser's own site. They involve no cookies or tracking of any kind, and aren't affected by your cookie choice.
